We relocated to Naples and purchased a property that required extensive attention both inside and out. Meeting "Gibb" from G Case Landscaping soon after we moved was a huge bonus!  Gibb and his team guided us through the process from start to finish. They professionally removed 15 trees with no damage to the house or other landscaping. Next they tackled the wildly, overgrown yard. Their extensive local knowledge of native plants and trees was superb.  They had professional plans drawn up, submitted to our HOA and approved in record time. Keeping our budget in mind they salvaged our existing irrigation system. The icing on the cake was the installation of exterior lighting in all the right places. The weekly maintenance has also been top notch. 5 Star experience!

Golden Gate Task Force gives family's home and yard a face-lift

For Donald and Ellie Wix, life wasn't getting any easier.

They had to worry about living in a home that wasn't up to code. They had to tend to a wheelchair-bound son 'Brucey, 41,' who has cerebral palsy. They had to deal with Donald's unexpected health issues.

They had no idea what would be waiting for them this past holiday season.

The Wixes recently received a gift from the Golden Gate Task Force, a collaboration involving the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the county's code enforcement and waste management. The group is dedicated to, among other things, restoring private homes and other property within the community.

Part of the task force's mission is to help deserving families in unfortunate situations.

Families like the Wixes.

'Why did they pick us, they could've picked a thousand other people,' said Ellie Wix, 81. 'They're going to do this for me? Who am I?'

On a slightly windy Thursday afternoon, Ellie, Donald and Brucey made their way down a newly installed ramp.

Ellie eased along with her hands tightly grabbing her walker. Donald, 80, walked with the wear and tear on his legs of a man who fought in World War II. And Brucey rolled down slowly in his mechanical wheelchair, with help from friends.

When they turned around to look at their new home, they saw a sight much different than that of a few months ago.

'They're the kind of people that are humble and don't even want to ask for help,' said Tracey Teeter, 69, of Golden Gate, who met the Wixes four years ago at church. 'They just make due with what they have.'

Because the Wixes didn't have a ramp in place, Donald would lift Brucey's wheelchair over the steps, and onto the porch leading to the front door. But last year, complications from prostate cancer surgery, put Donald in a nursing home for a stretch. Making due was no longer an option.

Their friends from church and their neighbors decided to all pitch in and help. They assisted Ellie with caring for Donald. They helped out with household chores. But the Wixe's needed more.

The paint on the house was fading, the shrubbery in the front yard was unkempt, and the shed that sits in the backyard was cluttered.

The county took notice and decided to step in.

'Once we got to know them, we found that they have a lot of responsibilities inside the house, where they can't even get outside,' said Cpl. Robert Capizzi of the Collier County Sheriff's department and chairman of the Golden Gate Task Force. The group is dedicated to, among other things, restoring private homes and other property within the community.

The task force delivered a total makeover, including a clean up, power washing, new mailbox and trash cans. Local contractors and landscapers chipped in to paint the home, cut the grass and pot new plants.

'It makes a huge difference, and couldn't happen to a nicer set of people,' said Gilbert Case, owner of Landscape management by GCase. His company took donations from local nurseries and installed the plants with the Sheriff's Office and county housing code officials.

I'm writing this letter to show our appreciation for the excellent service we received from Gilbert and his team at GCase Landscaping for the last seven years.

Every time we contacted Gib he would personally respond and take care of our needs quickly and efficiently and always provide advice on different options available. Communication in general was excellent.

His crew was always professional and arrived on a timely basis and were willing take care of any special requests.

It's been our pleasure working with Gib and his team and we would highly recommend him to anyone needing great landscaping service.
